In my teaching I seek to strike a balance between imparting class material and helping students to develop the critical thinking skills needed to apply that material constructively. To this effect, I foster an interactive class environment where students are encouraged to connect course concepts to their own experiences of the social world. As students learn more effectively when they have the supports to succeed, I further make efforts to engage with students individually to help them build on personal strengths, overcome barriers, and develop their ideas.
